A Project For Me.

The Punks have asked why they've never seen many pictures of me as a kid. "Were you born before cameras were invented?" they asked.

Yeah, they're real comedians, aren't they?

No, you twerps, I was born after cameras were invented, but prior to digital technology and big screen televisions. My parents' used 35mm cameras and my childhood is preserved on slides. Lots and lots of slides that haven't been seen for a long time, but grandpunks get what grandpunks want.

I took pictures of the projection screen with my camera to get these.
The good news is I look less like a monkey now.
I saw this photograph of me at about 2-years-old and my jaw dropped ... again ... because I remembered that expression.

I saw it on the Punkette when she was about 2-years-old!
And here's the classic car I grew up with. It was my dad's everyday driver.
And I think it explains why I told the hubster he could definitely get a classic car, but the whole family better be able to fit in it. I think this kind of "backseat" would be frowned upon today, don't you? We thought it was cool at the time, though.

So I guess I better get busy with the slide scanner. I brought five boxes home with me ... sixteen cases in a box ... 40 slides in most of the cases. Oh boy, this might take a while.

  1. Wow, that is amazing. I would never have guessed those two pics weren't the same little girl! The mouth, the eyes, the haircut, everything!

And love the vette, silver looks awesome on it. I note there is a second vette right in front of it... :-)

  2. J ... My parents and family have told me how much she resembles me, but I haven't actually seen those pictures in years. It was a bit of a shock!

And yes, I miss that car! My dad used to pick me up from soccer practice in it and it definitely added to my meager coolness factor. We were actually in line for a parade with the car club they belonged to. There were probably 40 corvettes in the vicinity.

  3. OMGosh! You two do look just alike! Expression, haircut--everything! That's a huge project, but it will be so worth it to have all those old photos.

Those corvettes have nothing but a shelf back there! LOL!! ;)
