Had to look these up when you mentioned them earlier. Had no idea what they were, had not heard of them. There are Silly Bandz videos, clubs, and competitions for collections. Astonishing. I just wish I was the guy who thought up this idea. He's going to be a gazillionaire for inventing colored rubber bands!. It boggles the mind.
Speck -- the inventor is from Ohio near Toledo. His company advertises them as a "... cost-effective trinket for tough times that can also be used as flexible flash-cards ...." I can almost see that with toddlers since the things do hold their shape. Too bad they've been banned in schools. LOL
Rita -- Sorry ... yes, the kids wear them. Of course, I'm not much for jewelry ... just my watch and wedding rings most of the time ... so I don't get that either.
Serena -- They've apparently been out for 2 years and are only just catching on around the US. If you're lucky, it won't leave the continent.
Remember those little plastic slides that you would put in the front corner of your giant t-shirt to cinch it up instead of making a knot?
Yeah, I do, and I don't judge on kids wearing rubber bands. But, I do wonder what's the point of the shape, since onces it's on their wrist it doesn't look like shape at all.

ReplyDeleteOMG!! And they do nothing?! Can't even wear them on your wrist? That is what I envisioned. Well--remember pet rocks!?? ROFL!! :):)
ReplyDeleteGreat sketch...I wonder if this fad will make its way DownUnder.

Even my high school students had them. They like to trade them.
