Surprise!

I wanted to try something different, so instead of a flower I drew two flowers. Da-da-dum! I think I've spent too much time in advertising, trying to make things look "the same, but different".

This is painted on 5" x 5" Aquabord, a clay-coated hardboard panel that accepts water media and allows colored areas to be lifted back to white easily. To achieve the whites in this piece, I used my X-acto knife to scrape away the color.

It's definitely different from painting on paper, but the results are very cool once you get the hang of it.

  1. Your crocuses (or should that be croci?) are fabulous - I like the way you've picked out the veining - that really lifts it.
I'd love to try these clay-coated boards but we don't get them here in the UK. Very frustrating. x
