November 23:
I'm Thankful for Lessons Learned

I learned a couple of things yesterday.

1. I do not like to drive on ice. That's probably true for everyone, but yesterday was the first time I experienced it without even a little bit of snow to provide traction. Luckily, aside from going slightly out of my way when I slid past my turn ... twice ... I'm none the worse the wear for that lesson.

2. I shouldn't try to carry my coffee, purse, bag-o-drawing stuff and a long box at once on an ice-covered parking lot. My coffee was unfortunately killed in the attempt, but everything else survived mostly intact.

3. I suck at picking craft fairs to participate in. I had a good location as the second table from the door and everyone who stopped had nothing but compliments for my work. Some visitors even picked things up and discussed the items, materials and techniques I used. Sadly, though, I didn't sell a darn thing. Zip. Zilch. Zero. Nada.

It was a bust for all but a couple of the vendors, although the sponsor did a rip-roaring business selling raffle tickets for their fundraiser of donated gift baskets. Darn it. Anyway, several vendors assured me my work was reasonably priced. The fair just attracted visitors that were supporting the sponsor, but not necessarily there to buy anything.

4. I also learned my girl can seriously cheer me up after a crappy day. That lesson I like.

  1. I can't believe you didn't sell anything at the craft fair! Must have been a fluke. :]
