Welcome to InkTober!

Since I've been slacking in the sketchbook department of late, I've decided to take part in this year's InkTober Challenge. It's a great way to pick up the drawing bug or rediscover it if you've been suffering from a bit of burnout.

I'm going to put my pencils away this month and try drawing with different pens, including breaking out the old dip pens and tips. There's a ton of information on Jake Parker's website (the founder of InkTober). He discusses how he came up with the idea and reviews a variety of pens you could use, along with showing the kinds of marks they make – a fantastic resource in and of itself.

The suggested "rules" are simple.

1. Make a drawing in ink (you can use a pencil underdrawing if you want).

2. Post it on your blog (or tumblr, instagram, twitter, facebook, flickr, pinterest or just pin it to your wall).

3. Hashtag it with #inktober

4. Repeat

Here's my first drawing for the month from yesterday. I'll try to get today's posted before EOD so I'll be all caught up ... at least for 24 hours!
