Only So Many Hours In One Day.

There are a lot of reasons why my sketchbook has been gathering dust. The good news is I've been busy with paying clients, new creative obsessions and a few books I can't seem to put down. I'm also taking a class, working on a gift and trying to eke out a some time to exercise. The bad news is the sketchbook's last place finish on my to-do list often has more to do with avoidance than my running out of time.

When my craptastic cancer journey began, I dropped my sketchbook like a hot potato. Heaven forbid the punks come across something negative in its pages instead of amusing anecdotes about their childhood. Of course, by the time they're flipping through the pages unsupervised they'll be aware that cancer was not the cakewalk I tried to portray. Realizing that, though, has been easier than reestablishing my daily drawing habit.

I've decided it's time to reclaim my sketchbooks for me – the good and even the occasionally craptastic.

  1. Hugs to you, Karen! I can only imagine how difficult it must be to get back to the sketchbook after all the "fun" you've had with the cancer when I sometimes struggle to get back into mine after life throws me a few curve balls. Glad you're getting your groove back!
